And even though I&#8217;m long overdue to explain how\/why The Boy and I <a href=\"http:\/\/unkreative.com\/musings\/2008\/01\/falling-man.html\" target=\"_blank\">hobbled Amit<\/a> in a friendly game of front lawn-cricket (he did it to himself) (he did) (and then we made him dinner), instead I offer some scriptwriting-related distractions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Across the ditch, <strong>Lynden Barber<\/strong>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/eyeswiredopen.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\">Eyes Wired Shut<\/a> blog has a great series of posts about why Australian films have been lacking lately <a href=\"http:\/\/eyeswiredopen.blogspot.com\/2008\/01\/where-australian-scripts-tend-to-fall.html\" target=\"_blank\">(the scripts suck)<\/a>. And he just might have put <a href=\"http:\/\/eyeswiredopen.blogspot.com\/2007\/12\/romantic-comedy-no-longer-swear-word.html\" target=\"_blank\">romantic comedies<\/a> back on my viewing list. (Fedora-tip: <strong>Canberra Rob<\/strong>, friend of the recently-wed webmistresse <strong>DeborahK<\/strong>.)<\/li>\n<li>American public radio station <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcrw.com\" target=\"_blank\">KCRW<\/a> provides two must-download\/listen podcasts: <strong>Claude Brodesser-Akner<\/strong>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcrw.com\/etc\/programs\/tb\" target=\"_blank\">The Business<\/a> is a witty and acerbic look at Hollywood; and former <em>New York Times<\/em> film critic <strong>Elvis Mitchell<\/strong> scores some of the <em>coooolest<\/em> interviews in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kcrw.com\/etc\/programs\/tt\" target=\"_blank\">The Treatment<\/a>. Download. Listen. Enjoy. (Fedora-tip: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm2015062\/\" target=\"_blank\">Leonie<\/a> who requested that I <em>share<\/em>.)<\/li>\n<li>Seeing that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0462499\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rambo IV<\/a> has just hit theatres in the States, it looks like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dfmamea.com\/otherwriting.html#kimbo\">Kimbo<\/a> film will have to be pushed back even further (not that it&#8217;s going anywhere anyway, but I thought I&#8217;d work it in). (Yes. <em>Rambo<\/em>. IV.) As critics review it with tongue in clenched cheek (and, possibly, NRA memberships secretly renewed), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reelviews.net\/movies\/r\/rambo.html\" target=\"_blank\">James Berardinelli<\/a> summed it up rather nicely: <em>If what you want from a movie is a lot of Stallone looking morose and pensive before suddenly going apeshit and slaughtering a bunch of people, then <em>Rambo<\/em> is your kind of experience<\/em>. Guess where I&#8217;ll be heading when that opens in New Zealand?<\/li>\n<li>And here I was thinking I&#8217;d cornered the local blogging-scriptwriting market (being the youngest of five, I was uh, doted on a little more than the other <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">rabble<\/span> siblings): <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0382668\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stephen Hickey<\/a>, writer of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0246685\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hopeless<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0320881\/\" target=\"_blank\">Love Bites<\/a>, has been blogging since <strong>2004<\/strong> at <a href=\"http:\/\/multi-dimensional.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\">multi-dimensional<\/a>. He&#8217;s quite open and generous about his writing process &#8211; and has just set up a <a href=\"http:\/\/theprocess.pbwiki.com\/FrontPage\" target=\"_blank\">wiki<\/a>.
