Our WRITER hunches over his desk, fingers flying over his KEYBOARD, head bopping to Charlie Parker. A particularly intense buzz of typing and he squints at his MONITOR --<\/p>\n

ON MONITOR where a page count shows “12”.<\/p>\n

WRITER<\/p>\n

Yeah, baby!<\/p>\n

His CELLPHONE vibrates.<\/p>\n

ON CELLPHONE which shows “New txt from Producer”.<\/p>\n

He snatches up his cell.<\/p>\n

ON CELLPHONE – “You have a Director.”<\/p>\n

Our Writer’s brow furrows as --<\/p>\n

CUT TO:<\/p>\n

FLASHBACK – INT. PRODUCER’S OFFICE – DAY<\/p>\n

-- our Writer squirms on his KINDERGARTEN STOOL, eyes barely clearing the top of the PRODUCER’S DESK.<\/p>\n

PRODUCER<\/p>\n

Do you want to direct?<\/p>\n

WRITER<\/p>\n

Hell, no.<\/p>\n

PRODUCER<\/p>\n

Shut -, uh. Good.<\/p>\n

ON WRITER as he stares at the Producer, a bead of sweat tracking down his forehead as we --<\/p>\n

CUT BACK TO:<\/p>\n

INT. KEEP, FORTRESS MAMEA – NIGHT<\/p>\n

-- and the Writer’s thumb hovers over the ‘Send’ button --<\/p>\n

ON CELLPHONE – “Wow. Without a script, too.”<\/p>\n

-- then he thumbs the ‘Cancel’ button, before trying another answer --<\/p>\n

ON CELLPHONE – “You are so O for AWESOME.”<\/p>\n

-- then he cancels that reply – a DROP OF SWEAT splashes the cellphone and he blinks and remembers to breathe – then types in --<\/p>\n
