{"id":214,"date":"2008-10-07T17:14:42","date_gmt":"2008-10-07T05:14:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dfmamea.com\/blog\/?p=214"},"modified":"2024-01-09T14:35:31","modified_gmt":"2024-01-09T01:35:31","slug":"point-click-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dfmamea.com\/blog\/point-click-12\/","title":{"rendered":"Point &#038; Click"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;S been a while since I&#8217;ve done one of these.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I wish I could break down my projects like this:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"margin-left: 25px; margin-right: 60px;\">&#8230; <i>The Mentalist<\/i> is no different from any of its mediocre-to-lousy brethren.\u00a0 You&#8217;ve got Simon Baker as the TROUBLED HERO WITH A TRAGIC PAST, who is BRILLIANT IN A DISTINCTIVE AND UNUSUAL WAY.\u00a0 He has a flirty, clashing rapport with Robin Tunney, the NO-NONSENCE LAW ENFORCEMENT GAL WHO SECRETLY WANTS TO BONE HIM SENSELESS, YOU CAN TOTALLY TELL.\u00a0 She works with her TEAM OF MISMATCHED SUBORDINATES, including the BIG LUG (Owain Yeoman), the UNEXPECTEDLY FUNNY GUY (Tim Kang), and the HOT, WIDE-EYED ROOKIE GIRL (Amanda Righetti).\u00a0 A baffling crime is committed, to and by rich people living someplace sunny and appealingly photographed, and involving a beautiful-yet-mutilated lady-corpse and a TAUNTING SERIAL KILLER ARCHENEMY.\u00a0 One hour later, after the hero has a few opportunities to DO QUIRKY THINGS, BROOD ABOUT HIS SECRET PAIN, and DEMONSTRATE HIS UNIQUE GIFTS, guns are drawn, people are shouting authoritatively, the hero is smiling, and the case is neatly wrapped up.<\/div>\n<p>For the rest of the article, click on over to <a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/teevee\/mainfeed\/~3\/404161273\/fall-08-the-mentalist-overthin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teevee.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Over at <a href=\"http:\/\/rougewave.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Rouge Wave<\/a>, <b>Julie Gray<\/b> wrote up a list of <a href=\"http:\/\/rougewave.blogspot.com\/2008\/08\/elegant-universe-patterns-in-writers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">writerly traits<\/a>, amongst them:\n<ul>\n<li>Many writers, regardless of age, have not seen the classics<\/li>\n<li>No new writer is realistic about breaking into the business<\/li>\n<li>Action scripts are almost always written by men of any age<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Guilty as charged.
