{"id":3198,"date":"2013-05-27T11:00:56","date_gmt":"2013-05-26T23:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dfmamea.com\/?p=3198"},"modified":"2013-05-27T10:57:20","modified_gmt":"2013-05-26T22:57:20","slug":"ongoing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dfmamea.com\/blog\/ongoing\/","title":{"rendered":"Ongoing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the end of Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Daredevil:_Born_Again\" target=\"_blank\">Daredevil: Born Again<\/a>, our hero, broken in the first act of the story and now painfully reconstituted as a stronger, more focused, more realistic hero and human being, walks into the figurative sunset with the love of his life.<\/p>\n<p>I stopped reading the series at that point. \u00a0I knew if I continued, it would just go on and on\u00a0<i>and on<\/i>: \u00a0there would be more villains, more life-obstacles &#8211; more of the same, but different.<\/p>\n<p>Come to think of it, I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ve ever been a big fan of ongoing serials. My comic collection is made up largely of one-off&#8217;s, mini-series and trade paperbacks. \u00a0As for the viewing library, even though I was a massive fan of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dfmamea.com\/2010\/05\/17\/l-o-oh-no\/\">Law &amp; Order<\/a>, it&#8217;s taken quite a conscious effort to get myself to buy up to the sixth season of the show, as opposed to the complete runs I have of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dfmamea.com\/2008\/10\/12\/the-shield-in-memorandum\/\">The Shield<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dfmamea.com\/2012\/09\/08\/another-letter-to-aaron-sorkin\/\">The West Wing<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dfmamea.com\/2009\/02\/02\/box-watch-the-wire-seasons-1-5\/\">The Wire<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I think real life is exciting and ongoing enough, thank you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the end of Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli&#8217;s\u00a0Daredevil: Born Again, our hero, broken in the first act of the story and now painfully reconstituted as a stronger, more focused, more realistic hero and human being, walks into the figurative sunset with the love of his life.
