I realised with a bit of a shock that 2013 is the year in which two must-see TV shows end their runs: Breaking Bad<\/a> and Mad Men<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Salon<\/a> has a nice piece<\/a> by Joe Winkler<\/b> on the impending departure of 30 Rock<\/i> and The Office<\/i>. It’s about sitcoms but the sentiments are similar:<\/p>\n

In the most recent episode of \u201c30 Rock\u201d \u2014 there are only two more remaining in the series \u2014 Kenneth Parcell and Tracy Jordan discuss the reason behind Kenneth\u2019s childlike love of television. Tracy guesses: \u201cDespite cellphones, iPads and computers, they are still the most effective portals for poltergeists?\u201d No, Kenneth tells him, It\u2019s \u201cbecause nothing ever really changes, the people you care about never leave.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
