The write-ups and mentions continued in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nzherald.co.nz\/entertainment\/news\/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&amp;objectid=12007376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Herald<\/a>, the <em>Listener<\/em> (hardcopy only), and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Nu9fVG18s5Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tagata Pasifika<\/a>\u00a0have been nice to read and watch.<\/p>\n<p>On opening night I was accompanied by \u00a0<strong>The\u00a0Lovely\u00a0Wife<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>The\u00a0Girl<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>The\u00a0Boy<\/strong>, and I was very, very happy to have my family with me. The opening night audience liked the show \u2014 that&#8217;s always grafifying. The early reviews in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayworld.com\/new-zealand\/article\/BWW-Review-STILL-LIFE-WITH-CHICKENS-at-Mangere-Arts-Centre-20180309\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BroadwayWorld<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/concreteplayground.com\/auckland\/event\/still-life-chickens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Concrete Playground<\/a>\u00a0are positive.<\/p>\n<p>For some reason this doesn&#8217;t feel real. Maybe it&#8217;ll hit me at some point \u2014 soon, hopefully, maybe \u2014 that I&#8217;ve achieved something tangible, something to be inordinately proud of. Instead I&#8217;ve been looking over my shoulder, waiting to be awoken from some impossibly good dream.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m biased so I shan&#8217;t exhort you to see the show. \u00a0But I will point you in the direction of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ChocolateStigmata\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>\u00a0page and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?src=typd&amp;q=%23stilllifewithchickens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>\u00a0feed so you can decide for yourself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The lead up to the opening has been more public than I expected.
