The last few months were very pleasantly crowded with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Desperate_Housewives\" target=\"_blank\">Desperate Housewives<\/a> (Mon)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Law_&amp;_Order:_Criminal_Intent\" target=\"_blank\">Law &amp; Order: Criminal Intent<\/a> (Mon)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Medium_(TV_series)\" target=\"_blank\">Medium<\/a> (Mon)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Extras_(TV_series)\" target=\"_blank\">Extras<\/a> (Mon)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Closer\" target=\"_blank\">The Closer<\/a> (Wed)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Law_&amp;_Order\" target=\"_blank\">Law &amp; Order<\/a> (Wed)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0485842\/\" target=\"_blank\">Studio 60 on Sunset Strip<\/a> (Thur)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0841961\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kingdom<\/a> (Sat)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Doctor_Who\" target=\"_blank\">Doctor Who<\/a> (Sun)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most of them have finished now (or in the case of <em>Studio 60<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/dfmamea.com\/blog\/2007\/10\/23\/a-late-letter-to-aaron-sorkin\/\">I stopped watching<\/a>). The Goddess and I have tried some new and returning shows, without great success.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Despite the presence of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Six_Feet_Under\" target=\"_blank\">Six Feet Under<\/a> alumnus <a href=\"http:\/\/imdb.com\/name\/nm0341737\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rachel Griffiths<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brothers_%26_Sisters_(2006_TV_series)\" target=\"_blank\">Brothers &amp; Sisters<\/a> tried so hard to stop us from switching channels, we turned the box off completely.<\/li>\n<li>Having read somewhere that <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hustle_(TV_series)\" target=\"_blank\">Hu$tle<\/a> had shuffled up to the big con in the sky, I was surprised to see it return &#8211; only to find that it was <em>sans<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/imdb.com\/name\/nm0504412\/\" target=\"_blank\">Adrian Lester<\/a>. Who cares about a bunch of grifters, no matter how funny (Danny), pretty (Stacey), reliably versatile (Ash) and wizened (Albie) they are? We want the cool black guy back!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Saving_Grace_(TV_series)\" target=\"_blank\">Saving Grace<\/a> looked very promising with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0000456\/\" target=\"_blank\">Holly Hunter<\/a> in the lead. Unfortunately, for us, yet-another-cop-show with a smart-mouthed, promiscuous, boozin&#8217;, law-bendin&#8217;, gun-totin, ass-grabbin&#8217; protagonist <em>who happens to be female<\/em> just doesn&#8217;t wash.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So far, not so good. Still no sign of <a href=\"http:\/\/dfmamea.com\/blog\/2007\/01\/05\/i-heart-the-shield\/\">my beloved<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Shield\" target=\"_blank\">Shield<\/a> or the satisfyingly dense <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Wire_(television)\" target=\"_blank\">Wire<\/a>. And waiting for us on the trusty VCR are the pilots for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Street_(BBC_series)\" target=\"_blank\">The Street<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Burn_Notice_(TV_series)\" target=\"_blank\">Burn Notice<\/a>. The Law of Averages is on our side.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s pretty quiet on the box at the moment.
