The Goddess is away for a few days. In preparation for her absence, I’d hired a bunch of DVDs that I wouldn’t normally get out for our (sort of) shared viewing (and no, not those<\/em> kinds of DVDs either). I suspect her expression of polite consternation at my selection of adolescent action, cult horror and puerile comedy hid feelings of horror and relief that she wouldn’t be (politely) offered the opportunity to watch any of them.<\/p>\n

Last night, I watched the first of them. Five minutes into it, I got out some paper and started making notes about a script I’m working on. I looked up every few minutes or so, in time for a CGI-enhanced action set-piece or some expository dialogue. At the end of its 83-minute running time, I wondered if it felt short because the film was lean and breezy, or because I’d produced a couple of pages of notes.<\/p>\n

… Whatever<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Tonight’s film is a horror and I’m wondering if I should leave the lights on. In case I’m inspired to rough out some more notes, of course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
