Beside him, THE BOY devours the Special Rugby World Cup edition of “The New Zealand Herald” NEWSPAPER. The Boy looks up:
THE BOY
What team are you supporting?
WRITER
(sighs)
I don’t care for the cup –
THE BOY
Okay but what if you did?
WRITER
(glances across at his son)
The All Blacks. Out of habit or conditioning, I suppose.
THE BOY
I’m supporting England. And the Springboks. But not the Wallabies.
WRITER
Why not the Wallabies?
THE BOY
(‘like duh’)
They’re Australian.
